White Lake fire

8:35 p.m. update: Crews seem to have a handle on the fire near White Lake, they are building a guard around the torched brush and grass. A helicopter continues to work the hot spots. 

Crews are battling a 20 hectare brush fire near the White Lake Observatory, approximately 10 km. west of Okanagan Falls.

Fire Information officer Kelsey Winter says they have crews on the ground and more are on the way.

"We have nine on site and another 20 are on route. There are three air tankers working the fire and one helicopter, another helicopter is on the way. The tankers have dropped four loads."

Winter says there are structures in the area, but so far they are not being threatened.

The Willowbrook Fire Department is assisting forestry crews to control the blaze that started around 4 p.m..
