Oliver home destroyed

A home on the 500 block of Earl street in Oliver has been destroyed by fire.

The blaze began this morning around 9 a.m. and soon had engulfed the single-family dwelling in flames. At about 9:30 a.m. the roof of the building caved in.

It is unknown whether anybody was inside the building at the time.

A witness reported that a man jumped over downed power lines and tried to run inside the burning building.

He was restrained by fire fighters.

Witnesses have also reported a female suffered some scrapes while escaping the inferno. The extent of her injuries are unconfirmed.

There are at least three fire engines on scene fighting the fire. The downed power lines have cut off power to some homes.

There are no reported injuries and fire crews on scene are trying to stop the flames from spreading.
