Hit and run in Penticton

The Penticton RCMP are asking for the public's help in locating a hit and run driver, following an incident Thursday morning.

According to Cpl. Martin Trudeau, they received a call around 9:30 a.m. from BC Ambulance to assist with a cyclist who had been hit by a vehicle on Carmi Avenue at Manitoba Street.

At the time of the incident, both the cyclist and the vehicle, described as a silver SUV, were travelling west on Carmi, when the SUV turned right onto Manitoba, cutting off the cyclist who hit the vehicle.

The SUV kept going on Manitoba, the cyclist had to be transported to Penticton Regional Hospital.

He may have suffered a broken arm, said Trudeau.

A witness says the vehicle was a silver coloured, newer model SUV.

It did not have a bike rack or a spare tire on the back.

There may also be minor damage to the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Penticton RCMP at (250) 492-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
