Tractor accident

Video by Roy Wood - raw footage shows the air ambulance leaving Oliver with Amardeep Ghuman.

UPDATE 6:00 P.M.

An Oliver man was rushed by air ambulance to Kelowna early Wednesday evening following a tractor accident at an orchard south of town.

Amardeep Ghuman was working aboard a tractor at the orchard on Ryegrass Road Wednesday afternoon when the machine slipped and threw him. His daughter, Sharm, said in an interview that the machine then ran over his legs.

He was taken initially by ambulance to the South Okanagan Regional Hospital in Oliver. Shortly after 5 p.m. he was loaded aboard a B.C. Air Ambulance to Kelowna where he was to undergo surgery.

Oliver RCMP Const. Tyson Martin, who was at the accident scene, said Ghuman’s legs were “badly broken.”

As to his condition, Martin said, “He is going to live.”

There were unconfirmed reports that the tractor was pulling a mower and that he may have been trapped under it and lost a foot.
