Horse racing returns

The Desert Park race track is hosting a horse race this Saturday in Osoyoos.

The event has five races scheduled which will feature horses from three states and two provinces.

Pete Hormes, board member at Desert Park said "There will be four champion race horses and a $6,000 Quarter Horse race that is going to be extremely exciting."

"Everything looks so good, it's all painted, the track looks so good - a lot of people put hundreds of hours into sprucing it up, it looks like a brand new area."

There will be food concessions, a bigger than ever beer garden and live betting.

Parking is free this year and the programs are $2.

The racing begins just after 1 p.m.

Last year the race attracted around 1,800 people and they hope to attract even more this year.

"Bring everybody you know."
