Original story -- June 7
RCMP are investigating what they call a suspicious death in BC's southern interior.
Police say officers responded to reports of a disturbance near the shore of Sawmill Lake around 3 a.m. Saturday.
Officers found a woman dead at the site.
A person is now in custody, but no charges have been laid.
Nearby campers said they were woken up by police in the morning, but weren't aware anything was amiss until then.
"When I was woken up by police I was a little concerned, but, until then I had no idea," said one man.
His partner said it was too windy to hear anything happening at other camp sites.
"They [the RCMP] came this morning, but they didn't even really tell us what happened," she said.
"There was nobody we saw that was around, just us and a few other campers," said Katrina Blondin. "That usually doesn't happen up here, not that I've heard anyway. It's kind of scary, for sure."
Police are urging anyone with information about the the death to contact Oliver RCMP.
