Crash victim a 'loving man'

Stan Beaton, the victim of Monday’s fatal motorcycle accident on Highway 3 east of Osoyoos, was described by his wife as a happy and loving man.

Beaton’s motorcycle left the highway Monday evening as it was heading down Anarchist Mountain about four kilometres east of the town. Beaton, 56, was alone at the time. He was thrown from the bike and died at the scene.

Beaton, a truck driver, had lived in Osoyoos for 20 years with his wife, Sandra. They have two children.

Sandra Beaton said in an interview Wednesday: “Stan was a wonderful man. He was a loving man. He was a fun-loving man.

He was hard-working and friendly and would give anyone the shirt off his back.”

As a truck driver, Sandra said, “Stan drove that highway constantly. He knew that road.”

According to an RCMP media release earlier in the week, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Osoyoos Canadian Legion.
