9 a.m. Update:
A driver was rushed to Oliver General Hospital early today following a single car accident on Highway 97 about 10 kilometers south of Oliver.
The highway was closed briefly and FortisBC crews were on the scene replacing a power pole knocked down by the vehicle.
The accident occurred on a straight section of the highway shortly after sunrise. The older model SUV apparently rolled and ended up about 20 metres off the road in a vineyard.
Condition of the driver and the cause of the accident were not available.
7:30 a.m. Update: Highway 97 has reopened south of Oliver.
7 a.m.: A crash has closed Highway 97, in both directions, 10 km south of Oliver.
Detours are available via Road 9 and Road 22.
DriveBC says an assessment is in progress.
The Oliver Daily News reports wires are down and FortisBC has been called.
