Get a massage at the beach

A professional masseur is hoping to set up shop on two Penticton beaches this summer.

After meeting with success in Kelowna, Tim Hamel, hopes to offer massage at the Peach at Okanagan Lake and at Skaha Lake Beach.

"At the end of the fall, I came down to look at the beaches here and fell in love," said Hamel. "And this summer will be my first time In Penticton."

Hamel said his massage business, chair or full body, was well received at Rotary Beach last summer. In the month of September alone, he raised $4,700 for the Kelowna women's shelter.

He will continue on at Rotary again this summer and add Penticton into the mix.

He is currently looking for subcontractors to work for him at the location.

Chuck Loewen, general manager for recreation services, said Hamel has put an application in, and if he meets all the criteria he will be permitted for the summer.

The permits are from the May long weekend to the September long weekend at both beaches.

"People love this," said Hamel. "It's so relaxing next to the water, and it will be a good experience for both staff and visitors."

Hamel can be reached at www.timhamel.com.
