Apex fire investigation begins
An investigation into a chairlift fire at Apex Mountain Resort is underway.
A safety officer with the BC Safety Authority arrived at the mountain Wednesday to begin an official investigation.
No one was injured as a result. All 12 people on the chairlift were evacuated safely.
The fire occurred at the top of the Triple Chair shortly after noon Monday.
The chairlift will remain closed for the balance of the season.
Safety authority officials say they will know more once they get a chance to inspect the lift.
Meantime, the BC Safety Authority continues to investigate a double chairlift incident at Crystal Mountain March 1.
Officials say the final report as to what caused three chairs to strike the ground injuring four people will be released as soon as the investigation concludes.
Crystal Mountain shut down for the season as a result.
