The Oliver Fire Department responded to a report of a loud bang and smoke at a home on Merlot Avenue, Wednesday night.

According to department spokesman Rob Graham, a woman called 911 after hearing the bang in her basement, then she smelled smoke.

There was smoke upstairs that needed to be ventilated, when they arrived,

Some firefighters entered through the basement door, and there was a also fair amount of smoke in the basement, said Graham.

Several smoldering items were removed and taken outside.

No one was injured and there was no major damage.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation by the fire department and RCMP.
