Petting farm open for spring break

Andy's Animal Acres will open its petting farm this Saturday for the spring break holiday.

Farm animals waiting to see human friends are bunnies, guinea pigs, sheep, big and miniature horses, pot belly pigs, miniature donkeys and goats.

The newest members of the farm family are three baby lambs, a mini pig and two Baby Doll sheep.

Owner Andrea Buyan, known as Farmer Andy, is looking forward to sharing her passion for animals for the second season.

"Allowing children to have hands on experiences with four legged creatures helps them to develop an appreciation and respect for animals," she said. "We had such a great response from people last year, our first year, we know there is a need for this type of wholesome activity for families who live here and visit the region."

The farm at 1154 Three Mile Road on the Naramata Bench will be open for the 2014 season, starting on the Easter weekend.

Until then it will be open for private groups and school field trips.
