Sentencing delayed in child porn case

A Penticton man set to be sentenced on child pornography charges, will spend Tuesday night in jail, prior to sentencing.

Mark Henry Snowden was taken into custody, when another court matter took precedence Tuesday morning.

The reason given for the decision was Snowden is currently homeless and had given up everything, according to his lawyer James Pennington.

Snowden was to be sentenced on charges of importing or distributing child pornography and possession of child pornography,

At his trial in the summer, an expert witness testified that an email of interest concerning the pornography was originally passed along from a U.S, police department and a search warrant then executed in Penticton in February of 2012.

The witness then received the man's computer and was asked to examine it for evidence of child pornography. Some of the websites visited featured young nude girls and young teen models.

Snowden is now slated to appear by video at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in a Penticton courtroom.
