Teen killed in Oliver crash

A black Chevrolet Monte Carlo struck a utility pole at the corner of Main Street and Skagit Avenue in Oliver on Jan. 26, according to the Oliver RCMP.

Officers attended and observed the pole had been sheared off at the base and was split lengthwise.

Subsequent investigation identified and located the driver of the vehicle, a 42-year-old Oliver resident who was issued a violation ticket for failure to remain at the scene of an accident and no insurance.

Speed appears to have played a significant role in this crash.

Earlier in the week, On Jan. 24, a resident in the area of Redwing Place reported that a tree in his strata complex had been backed into and there was a pile of glass left behind.

An Oliver detachment investigator attended the scene and confirmed that given the height on the tree where it was damaged it was likely a large truck or motorhome that was responsible.

Any witnesses to the Jan. 26 incident, are asked to call the Oliver detachment at  (250) 498-3422(250) 498-3422.
