Pair arrested for mail theft

The two people responsible for a number of thefts and break ins, including mail thefts in Keremeos and surrounding areas, have been arrested.

According to information provided by the RCMP, at approximately 3 a.m. on Jan. 13, Keremeos RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in Olalla.

A male and female, both from Keremeos, were subsequently arrested when it was observed they were in the process of stealing license plates from another vehicle.

Further investigation revealed the pair could be responsible for other thefts and break ins, including the mailbox thefts, in the area.

Multiple charges of theft are being recommended against the 27-year-old woman and the 31-year-old man who both have extensive criminal records.

The woman has been released on several conditions, while the man has been remanded in custody with his next appearance in court in Penticton on Jan. 16.
