City Hall to undergo renovations
Oct 10, 2013 / 10:29 am
Visitors to Penticton's city hall can expect to see changes in the near future.
Renovations that will see all customer direct contact services located on the main floor and other support services located on the second floor, will move ahead this fall.
"It's going to be one stop shopping, people will be able to do everything for business on the first floor," said Councillor Helena Konanz.
During the 2013 budget deliberations, $200,000 was approved and a further $50,000 was applied for and received from the Federal Human Resources and Skills Development Department through an enabling accessibility fund grant.
Over the summer, staff from different departments was involved in providing input on the renovations.
As well as it being a one stop shop, there will be greater visibility of reception for customer assistance and better customer flow at all times of the year, particularly at peak periods.
The next steps include awarding of the RFP for construction, communication to the public of various services relocation during construction and the construction itself.
The work is expected to start in late October, with the project fully completed by early January.
