Despite the recent rescinded evacuation order for the Peachland Elementary School along Clements Crescent, the School District is still going ahead with its contingency plan for Tuesday morning.

Students from Peachland Elementary School are asked to report to George Pringle Elementary School in West Kelowna at 8:30 a.m.  in the gymnasium. For those needing transportation a bus will be picking up students from Beach Avenue adjacent to the old primary school at 8:10 a.m.

Although the school is still under an evacuation alert, SD23 Superintendent Hugh Gloster says staff will return to Peachland Elementary Monday night and Tuesday morning to conduct a thorough cleaning and safety check.

"They will be changing all the filters, servicing the H-Vac units and making sure the air quality is appropriate."

After lunch students will be bused back to Peachland Elementary to reoccupy the school for the afternoon.

Gloster says parents are advised to pick up their children at the end of the day at the Peachland school.

Gloster says the district is quite confident the school will be clean and ready to go by the afternoon.

"We also have to prepare a safety plan in the event the situation was to change. If we were ordered to evacuate we need to have a plan in place to be ready to go."
