New York here I come!

Besides the fact that I get to write this column each week, I am so excited to represent the Okanagan at New York Fashion Week as the Okanaganista!  Once again I will be attending shows and events, and this year is going to be better than ever. Designers will be presenting their Spring/Summer 2013 collections, and magazine editors, bloggers, and press will be forecasting the big trends for next spring. I am so thrilled that I am going to be right in the middle of all the action, getting a glimpse into the eye of all that is fashion!

While I am in New York I will be attending runway shows and presentations, checking out Fashion Night Out, meeting up with fellow Canadian bloggers, and, of course, seeing the sights and eating as many authentic New York bagels, pizza and cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery that I can possibly do! I'm taking a long red-eye flight to the Big Apple in order to maximize my time in the city, but as you know, the red-eye isn't exactly renowned as a place for high fashion. For airports and airplanes I like to keep comfort and layers in mind. As flights can be on the cool side, I like to wear full bottoms like leggings, jeggings, or boyfriend jeans to keep it comfortable while still maintaining a decent core temperature. A lightweight cardigan or buttoned up shirt is a perfect add-on to accommodate the swings in temperature. If you're planning on going out when you get to your destination, just make sure you pack a pair of heels and a chic top to pair with your jeans! If denim isn't your style, you can wear leggings under a comfy cotton dress and just remove them when you get there! Instant cute outfit!
