Maxi skirts from summer to fall

One of my absolute favourite pieces right now is the maxi skirt! I'm loving this trend right now, not only for its versatility but also for its multi-seasonal appeal. You will find ankle-length skirts and dresses in all kinds of colors and patterns right now! A maxi skirt in a light breathable material (think silk and chiffon) is a great piece to wear in the heat of summer, and its length and coverage makes it a great staple to keep around for the cooler months.

Wear Now

Pair your maxi skirt with a sleeveless shirt or blouse in cotton or silk. The summer fabrics keep you cool even though you'll be covered up on the bottom. Look for maxi skirts in light weight fabrics to give movement to the skirt when you walk. Strappy sandals, a bright bag, and tortoise shell sunglasses are great extras to a long skirt to keep it from looking old fashioned. I also love to carry a denim jacket to pull on when the temperature starts to drop during these August nights.

Wear Later

As we're coming into fall, I love this whimsical skirt paired with heavier materials like leather, knits, and angora. My personal favourite look is pairing a knit sweater and a leather moto-jacket over the maxi skirt. Add your favourite fall ankle boots and a fun clutch for a perfect wear-it-everywhere fall ensemble. And when fall turns into winter, don't put away your maxis - just add a pair of thick wool tights for added warmth!
