They came close, but the UBC Okanagan Heat couldn’t overcome an early 13-point deficit and fell 68-64 to the visiting MacEwan Griffins on Saturday.
Led by rookie guard Aldrich Berrios of Burnaby, the Heat pulled to within two points with eight seconds on the clock, but turned over the ball to allow the Griffins to secure the four-point victory and earn a split of their CIS Canada West game.
