Liam Blackburn scored twice and his team fired 50 shots on goal as the West Kelowna Warriors defeated Coquitlam Express 6-2 in their opening game of the 2014-15 B.C. Hockey League season on Friday.
Blackburn, in his second season with the Warriors after scoring 17 goals in ’13-14, sparked West Kelowna early on in the third-annual Bauer BCHL Showcase at Prospera Centre in Chilliwack. The Prince George product netted a shorthanded marker at 8:20 of the opening period and added his second goal with 2:15 remaining in the frame to make 4-2.
