Pair of A’s With National Champs

Okanagan A’s Trevor Lofstrom contributed a pair of runs as Team BC defeated Team Alberta 5-1 to win the U-17 Canada Cup baseball championship on Sunday in Saskatoon.

Lofstrom, playing centre field for B.C., drew three walks and scored twice in the championship matchup. His lead-off base-on-balls in the sixth inning sparked a three-run rally that proved the turning point in the game.

B.C. finished round-robin pool play with a 4-2 record and earned a berth in the Sunday’s semifinal game against host Saskatchewan, winning 3-1 for the right to play Alberta in the title match.
