Shutout Win For Sun In Home Opener

Like those that covered the Apple Bowl gridiron quickly on Saturday, the visiting Vancouver Island Raiders appeared to be a shadow of their championship team of a year ago.

Still, Okanagan Sun head coach Shane Beatty was caught up in the hype of his team’s 38-0 B.C. Junior Football Conference win in their home opener over a team that has dominated them in the past.

“Our kids are in great shape and they come out fired up and they come out fast,” said Beatty after the Sun scored on the first sequence and then cruised to their second win in three starts in their 33rd season. “If we keep that up for four quarters we can beat anybody,” said Beatty.
