Athlete Of The Month - Josh Zakala

Whether at home Okanagan Lake or representing the Kelowna AquaJets Swim Club at provincial or national meets, Josh Zakala made a huge splash in July.

The Okanagan Mission Secondary School student kicked off the month by defending his B.C. five-kilometre open water title in Victoria and added a bronze medal in th 200-metre individual medley event at the provincial AAA championships.

Zakala, 16, also earned a berth in three other provincial finals — finishing fourth in the 400 freestyle, sixth in the 200 back and eighth in the 50 free.
