Evan Guthrie Riding With Big Boys

A fifth-place finish at the Canadian national mountain bike championships in Barrie, Ont. confirmed to Evan Guthrie — and fellow competitors — he’s on the verge of making an impact on elite world stage.

The Peachland cyclist, after leading the one hour 40-minute cross country race for more than five laps and all but 10 minutes, finished just 38 seconds behind the winner, 37-year-old Geoff Kabush of Comox, the eight-time national champion and three-time Olympian.
