Games Medals Abound For Zone 2

Although falling just short of one lofty goal, the Thompson-Okanagan (Zone 2) girls basketball team enjoyed a winning weekend at the BC Summer Games in Nanaimo.

“When you have 10 girls who all can play and contribute, the expectations are high,” said head coach Rob Mitchell of Kelowna, whose team earned a silver medal on Sunday. “Winning the gold was just one of our goals — the remainder were all fulfilled.”

“Besides the basketball, the girls set objectives to have fun and create memories. And they certainly accomplished that . . . and much more.”
