Osland One Back On Day 1

Playing with a new set of irons for the first time in a tournament, Kelowna’s Megan Osland shot 3-under-par 68 on Tuesday at the Canadian women’s amateur golf championship in Woodstock, Ont.

The San Jose State University Spartan carded the only bogeyless round among the 155 golfers on the Craigowan Oxford Golf and Country Club course.

But while Osland “really liked” her newly christened TaylorMade Tour Preferred (cavity back) irons, it was her tried and true putter that came through most for the 21-year-old, who trails four golfers — Liz Breed of Wayneboro, Pa., Augusta James (Bath, Ont.), Gabriela Lopez (Mexico) and Su-Hyun Oh (Australia) — by one stroke on the
leaderboard.
