Lu Adds Amateur To Growing List

Jordan Lu parred the fifth playoff hole to win the B.C. men’s amateur golf championship on Friday in North Vancouver.

Having to birdie the final hole of regulation play at the Seymour Golf and Country Club, Lu, 17, of Vancouver forced the playoff with Michael Belle of Burnaby, who three-putted the fifth extra hole for bogey from 12 feet after lipping out his birdie attempt.

Lu said he entered the 112th version of the B.C. amateur with no expectations to win.

He opened with a 1-over 72 after struggling on the back nine. The following day he shot 73 and at the midway mark of the championship was 3-over. The Marine Drive Golf Club member recorded a one-under 70 on Thursday that still left him well back of the leader.
