Heat Men Reaching New Heights

Intent on building its front-court depth to complement an already-solid back court, the UBC Okanagan men’s basketball team has added 6-foot-6 forward Austin Penrose to the mix.

Penrose, a Howe Sound product, will join the Heat this fall for their fourth CIS Canada West season, hoping to function more like a stretch four player — facing up to the hoop for his favourite mid-range jumper or making a quick move to finish cleanly at the rim.

The 195-pounder did that well enough with the Sentinel Secondary School Spartans of West Vancouver last year to be selected to the first all-star team at the Howe Sound playoffs and in the regular season.
