Heat Add Jewel To Hoop Team

Heather Semeniuk believes she’s found a diamond in the rough in the form of Salmon Arm Jewels’ Haylie Gibb.

Although her team finished 12th at the B.C. School Sports AAA provincial championship tournament in March, Gibb shone brightly to secure a first-team all-star nod.

Semeniuk, at the helm of the UBC Okanagan Heat for a fourth CIS Canada West season, says she’s thrilled the 5-foot-10 hard-working forward — with a propensity to come up big in the crunch — has accepted the invitation to join the team this fall.
