Weekend crime wrap

A small amount of cash was stolen from the Salmon Arm Thrift Store after the business was broken into over the weekend.

The suspect forced open a door sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning, and took an undisclosed amount of money.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, Salmon Arm RCMP responded to a man down complaint at Hudson Street and Beattie Avenue. They found a 77-year-old man face down in the snow. Paramedics determined he was not injured and just grossly intoxicated. The man was arrested for being drunk in a public place and placed in cells until he was sober.

Salmon Arm RCMP have also received multiple reports of thefts or attempted thefts of change from vending and change machines at various locations in the town. The most recent report occurred on Feb. 3, when a male attempted to steal change from a vending machine at a car wash on 10th Street SW. Security video of the incident revealed that the suspect was a male wearing an orange jacket and driving a small red pickup truck with a white canopy.
