Kamloops stabbing victim in hospital

A 27-year-old Kamloops man was rushed in for emergency surgery at Royal Inland Hospital this morning after he was reportedly stabbed during an altercation on Columbia St just after 1:30 AM Thursday.

Police were alerted to the incident when the man showed up at the hospital suffering from serious stab wounds to his abdomen. The initial information provided by the victim during medical triage was sketchy and police are still attempting to establish the exact sequence of events.
Officers are hoping to obtain more specific details from the victim once he is out of surgery and able to speak with investigators.Investigators from the Major Crime Unit will be back in the area to look for evidence.
Anyone who may have seen an altercation between two or more individuals in the area of Columbia St between Pemberton Terrace and McGill St. around 1:30 AM is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP (250) 828-3000 or Crimestoppers 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
