Driving while prohibited

RCMP were at the right place at the right time to take a repeat offender into custody on Jan.11.

At about 1:30 p.m. an officer from the Rural Unit stopped a blue Ford Bronco on Highway 97B near Mayfair Road in Enderby.

The officer learned the vehicle's plate was stolen.

The driver and was detained for possession of stolen property. At first the man falsely identified himself. The plates were confirmed stolen, and after a bit questioning the man he properly identified himself.

This caused the man further problems as he had outstanding warrants out of Surrey. He was arrested, for Possession of Stolen Property, Obstruct Peace Officer, and Drive While Prohibited x 4. A small amount of drugs were seized as well.

The license plates were seized from the vehicle and returned to the ICBC. A warrant for "Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 2" out of Surrey was confirmed. He was also issued violation tickets for "No Insurance" and "No vehicle license" and a 7 day Vehicle Impound notice.

Our officer is attempting to confirm if the vehicle is stolen. The 42 year old Surrey man will be in court today (Jan. 14).
