Violent robberies in small communities

Enderby Jewellers

Two robberies took place Friday November 30th in the Armstrong-Enderby area.

At 5:05 November 30, rural officers attended a report of an armed robbery with a firearm at the Enderby Jewellers located at 608 Cliff Ave.

Two males, one young and one older entered the jewellers, according to the store clerk the younger suspect entered the shop after the older suspect. The younger man seemed agitated, produced a gun and demanded jewelry including diamonds.

An employee produced a tray of jewelry but the suspect realized it was not diamonds and left the store without any goods.

“Police Service dog unit was called to the scene and started a track but it ended abruptly down an alley and a short ways away. It appears the suspects probably left in a vehicle,” says Vernon RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk.

PDS were called to the scene but the track ended abruptly.

The older male suspect is described 5’10’, slim build, late 40’s with a possible reddish-toned goatee, white dress shirt and black brimmed hat (like a cowboy hat but smaller), black pants with no jacket.

The younger suspect is taller than the first (about 6’), 180lbs., tanned skin, black hoodie with Canada written on the front in white and red lettering.

The second robbery occurred November 30 at 11 p.m. at the Anchor Inn Liquor Store located at 2570 Pleasant Valley Blvd. in Armstrong. Police responded to a report of two male suspects having stolen cash and a clerk’s vehicle, which was parked outside.

Upon arrival Police were informed the suspects had bound the clerk’s hands and he was made to lie on the floor. He waited awhile before pushing the silent alarm, signaling 911.

The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and the clerk’s vehicle as reported.

The suspects are both Caucasian males in their 40’s. One was wearing a full red snowsuit with toque and gloves and the second was wearing a blue jacket with gloves and ball cap.

When questioned about the potential possibility of the robberies being connected, Molendyk said, “We are not one-hundred percent sure of the two in Enderby and Armstrong. They’re taking a close look at those two, however it does not appear the two (robberies) in Vernon are connected.”

RCMP is urging anyone with information to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

“Police are working on getting photos of the suspects so they can release them to the public,” says Molendyk.

“We’d like to get them out as soon as we can.”

There were also two robberies in Vernon Friday night.
