Tough rescue for Joe Rich FD
Aug 26, 2012 / 8:30 am
The Joe Rich Fire Department was called out to a single vehicle roll-over on Philpott Road early Sunday morning.
A woman, driving alone, somehow lost control of her vehicle, went off the road and down a steep embankment, finally landing in a creek.
Fire officials say the call came in at 1:32 a.m., and when crews arrived they realized they faced a tough rescue.
Fire crews lowered ladders down to the crash site and were able to access the woman through the driver's door.
The team then used a medical spine board and rescue basket to lift the patient out of the ravine and onto the road.
The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to Kelowna General Hospital by BC Ambulance Service personnel.
