With the flooding along the Shuswap River and several of the creeks that took place from June through to the first week of July behind us now, residents have been waiting to hear about possible compensation around the flooding.

The wait is now over.

The Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) application for the North Okanagan has now been approved for the June 2012 Regional flooding.

Effected residents are eligible to apply for DFA assistance if non-insurable items essential to your principal residence, business, farm, or charitable/volunteer organization have been damaged.

You may submit an application in more than one category (ie. Home and business)

Please review the DFA Guidelines at http://www.pep.bc.ca/dfa_claims/dfa.html and complete the application.

You may contact the DFA office at PEP.Funding@gov.bc.ca or by phoning toll free at 1.888.257.4777

Eligible applicants will be contacted by a DFA evaluator who will visit you to review the damage caused by the flooding and complete the evaluation.

Remember it will be helpful if you are able to produce photographs and other documentation to support your claims.
