Race car crashes on city street
Jun 26, 2012 / 5:10 pm
A string of break and enters in Lumby is concerning police and devastating businesses.
Back in October of last year, several downtown businesses were broke into over the course of a week. These included Sister’s Restaurant, Anna’s Pizza , the Field’s Store and Café Mazzega.
One young man was charged for breaking into Anna's Pizza and Field's, although police believe four suspects were involved.
Police continued to investigate the robberies, but unfortunately many of the same businesses were broken into again on the night of June 13 or morning of the 14. RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says one business, the Edible Canvas Bistro, was hit again during the early morning hours of June 24.
"This is clearly very disheartening for the business owners. "
Police have located and interviewed potential witnesses and were able to gather significant evidence at the scene. If you have any information regarding these break and enter sprees please call the Detachment or Crime Stoppers.

Police in Vernon attended a bizarre motor vehicle accident on June 24.
According to RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk, the races at the Vernon Motor Speedway were cancelled due to rain.
"One of the drivers took it upon himself to trailer his racer to Bluenose road and go for a spin on the public roadway. "
The racecar was equipped with only the one seat, a roll bar and a five point harness for the driver only. It was not street legal and not insured.
Molendyk says the driver also decided to take three of his friends for a ride.
"All of whom were basically sitting on the vehicle's metal floor with no seats and no seat belts."
The driver ended up losing control of the vehicle on the wet, muddy road and went over a 100 foot embankment.
One of the passengers was seriously injured and had to be evacuated to Kelowna General Hospital.
Police are still investigating and multiple charges are expected.
