A man from Hope is in critical condition following a hang glider accident just outside Lumby on Mabel Lake Road.
North Okanagan RCMP were called to the scene just before 2 p.m. Monday, where witnesses say the man was approaching for landing when he stalled the glider and hit the ground with one wing which caused it to go in a cart wheel motion, propelling the man to hit the ground at full force.
According to RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk early indications are that the 38-year-old pilot was a reasonably experienced glider.
"He was seriously injured in the crash, and transported by air to Kelowna General Hospital where he remains in the intensive care unit."
The accident is still under investigation.
