It could turn out to be a very costly speeding ticket for a motorist in Salmon Arm.
Around 3:00 a.m., Tuesday February 7, RCMP pulled over a driver who was speeding on Highway 1 just outside Salmon Arm.
Police subsequently searched the vehicle and found over $66,000 in cash inside a bag. Officers says the driver was unable to explain why he was carrying such a large quantity of money.
They also found a small amount of marijuana in his possession.
RCMP seized the cash and will hold on to it while they conduct their investigation.
The driver was also issued a ticket for speeding.
The person is reported to have ties to Salmon Arm but was using an Alberta drivers license.
