A North Okanagan girl is in hospital with undetermined injuries after being hit by a family vehicle in their driveway. The accident happened in the 1200 block of Mable Lake Road Sunday.

Police say the parent had just unhooked a trailer and pulled the truck forward at the same time the young child walked in front of the truck.

The parent did not know the child was there.

"The child was rushed to Vernon hospital, assessed, and then flown to Vancouver Children's Hospital," says RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk.

"Early reports are the child has no broken bones but has serious bruising to some of the vital organs."
