Stop Wasting Water

To the residents of Kelowna. STOP WASTING WATER!!

It's April and already people are out in full force watering their lawns. We were warned that we are in drought conditions yet again, but people continue to water too much. We aren't even close to summer and already the wasting begins.

Ask yourself this the next time you see or do this yourselves.....

1. Is watering in the middle of a hot sunny day the best time to water, or does half of it evaporate because of the sun?
2. Do you NEED to water your lawn EVERY day to keep it green, or is watering twice a week enough, just by doing it slightly longer and in times where the sun isn't out!
3. When the sprinkler is watering not only the grass but also the sidewalk, the driveway and the street, is this the most effective use of water?
4. Do people need to hose off their driveways when brooming is just effective and is a form of exercise?

I believe it's time the residents of Kelowna start calling the local water authorities when blatant water wasting is taking place. We are running out of water. Green grass is nice, but not essential to our lives. Water is! You are not being a pain when you complain about water wasting, you are doing your community and everyone a favour.

Quit wasting water!
