Health expert says smart meters risky

To the editor:

Citizens of British Columbia should be made aware that on September 10, 2012, Professor Olle Johansson of the Karolinksa Insitute in Sweden wrote directly to BC’s Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Perry Kendall.

Johannson is an internationally recognized expert on the health aspects of cell towers and ‘smart meters.’

The letter cautions about microwave radiation and summarizes the responsibilities of public health officials.

Johannson states that the “involuntary exposure of human beings to pulsed microwave radiation should immediately be prohibited” until safety can be proven (my paraphrasing for brevity).

The BC government continues to maintain that the technology is ‘safe’ and that there is ‘no reason for concern’ in spite of substantial evidence to the contrary.
