Get on your soapbox

To the editor:

Since when did flagpoles become soapboxes?

My understanding is that flagpoles are meant to fly the Canadian flag and/or the provincial flag.

As a proud Canadian it irks me that people feel the need to disgrace and abuse what the flagpole was meant for.

If people have issues and want to air their opinions they should do so in the proper manner; on a soapbox at a corner.
