Re: Blame the owners
I do agree that any dog can bite but I think the biggest issue with pit bull bites is when they bite, there is usually severe damage with life long scarring and possible disfigurement.
It's hard to compare a poodle bite to a pit bull bite.
You say that you were bit more than once and your two little boys were bit more than once by your poodle Max.
If that had been a pit bull you never would have allowed so many bites to occur. Pit bulls do tend to go for the face and I doubt you would have put your boys or yourself through that more than once.
I do believe you would have done something after the first bite.
I used to think if a dog misbehaved it was the owners fault also, but I have seen some owners stating that their pit bull has been the sweetest dog, great family dog and didn't understand why it bit.
Now I think it's more the breed and not the owners, although I do realize that sometimes it is the owners if they have given their dog attack training or are abusing it, however that can be said for any dog.
A pit bulls jaws are so very strong, that is why there is so much damage done when they bite.
A poodle biting someone would never make the news because the damage is less.
