Blame the owners |

To the editor:
I had adopted a Toy Poodle many years ago and his name was Max.
We changed his name to Maniac Max because the owners previous had let this little dog run wild.
He didn’t know sit or stay or any basic commands and he thought his kennel was where he went after he bit someone.
He bit me on more than one occasion and sorry to say but I did not have the time to train Max to be a good dog because I had two little boys of my own that were also bit more than once.
Max went to a home with no small children and a stay at home mom so that he could be given the time he needed to be retrained by a responsible pet owner.
Max turned out to be a good dog after a lot of patience and training by his new owners, but this little toy poodle was a terror not because he was born this way but because the original owners did not train him.
The best dog I ever owned was Spike, a Pit Bull/ Border Collie cross. She was smart, loyal, faithful and most loving dog you ever met!
You definitely knew she was a pitbull when you met her, but because I was a good owner who taught her proper behaviour she was never an issue.
It is not the dog breeds faulty and you should not generalize any certain breed.
