Re: Dangerous dog attacks child
As a proud pit bull owner and dog lover, it upsets me every time I see a story run in the media about a pit bull attack.
It seems that pit bulls are constantly undermined in the media, but in reality they are no more dangerous then your typical “family” Labrador retriever in terms of attacks this year in the central Okanagan.
This statistic is clearly outlined in the article referenced above.
My question is why does the public never hear about a Labrador retriever attack? Why is it that pit bulls are always given a negative stereotype when in reality they no worse than supposed child friendly family dogs?
Every pit bull owner I have met has raised their dog to be a submissive, friendly, and loyal pet; no different then how people raise their retrievers, collies, or other breeds.
I truly am sorry to hear about Hayden and wish him a speedy recovery, both physically and mentally.
I offer to Hayden and his family to meet and play with my dog in order to overcome his fear of pit bulls.
My girlfriends’ nieces and nephews (aged 8 months to 8 years) are always climbing over and playing with him, without incident.
The offer is open and I hope you take me up on it.
