I am a BCGEU member and I just wanted to say I certainly was never consulted on the use of our funds to supply the homeless with shopping carts. If this isn’t a misuse of union funds, I don’t know what is.
Not only do I not support the idea of giving homeless shopping carts, I think it adds to the problem and doesn’t help it. Okay, sure the homeless now don’t have to use a stolen shopping cart, but come on… Why don’t we use that money to help get them off the street?
I could just be ignorant, but in this country I don’t believe any sane person has to be homeless. They either choose to be this way, are too drugged out to hold a job, or are mentally infirm.
