My wife and I moved to Peachland two and a half years ago and we cannot tell you how much we love this place. But even in paradise clouds can mar the perfect blue sky.
The first lightning strike viewed by us was an organized effort by the ranting few to stick taxpayers with the construction of a Curling Rink.
Anyone competent enough to balance a check book could have determined that the operational costs for the rink were well understated, erroneous and fabricated. Real residents voted and agreed. The potential disaster was averted.
Recently Peachland has been under attack again by a group with the misnomer..Peachland Residents Association. The dogged PRA has gone way over the line this time with a concerted attack on TNI and specifically its owner Steve Allison.
If we listened to these devious few we would be led to believe that Steve Allison is Peachland’s Pariah; a dastardly, diabolical charity baron, piping our weak and vulnerable down the path to depravity.
How is it that the PRA has crawled to the top of the Peachland’s political lobby group? Is our Mayor in agreement with this cranky crew? Why would someone who has been elected to take care of Peachland’s business punt TNI’s wonderful request to build a nice office/condo complex to another committee also called the PRP?
Lets see now! Take out the ugly old three story Edgewater Inn and replace with a new three story complex with huge spin offs for our community.
Surely council must be aware of the multiplier effect of the construction to Peachland coffers.
Does not construction like this lead to jobs for skilled labour, professionals? Will the new retail offices not draw in other business’s? Will the condo’s not attract new people to Peachland? Why did the PRA decide that they would attack TNI and its owner Steve Allison?
We have no answer.
