Letters to the editor

Soft penalties leads to vigilante justice

To the editor:

Re: Graham Adder's Letter regarding Vigilante Justice

I agree with Mr. Adder about the complacency of the people of our country.  It is no wonder people take the law into their own hands when we continually see criminals getting a slap on the wrist for their crimes.

We have a federal government who is more interested in turning times back to the dark ages than it is in keeping up with the modern times.  Our whole legal system is a major joke and seriously needs revamping.

Take a look at our politicians, both federal and provincial, and see how many of them have law degrees.

Unfortunately, everything is run by people who know how to make rules that can easily be manipulated to the favour of the criminals, not the victims.

If you really are interested in finding out what is happening in this country all you have to do is read the Security and Prosperity Agreement to find out.

People in Canada must get off their duffs and speak up, get involved in rallies and politics.  We need the regular citizen to get out and say enough is enough and run for a position in your government.

I believe that then, and only then, will things start to change.  There are enough people in Canada to make a difference but it starts with the everyday, fed up citizen to make this change.

Do we want to lose all our rights and freedoms or do we want to say enough is enough and make Canada the respected nation it once was.

I urge every citizen to consider this, if not for yourself, for your children's and grandchildren's future.
