To the editor:
RE: Free My Grapes
As a former constituent, I can help but find it entirely amusing that Dan Albas has been all over the news regarding "his" private members bill with respects to the wine industry.
First, if there was ever a guy that was hand-picked to be nothing more than a Conservative Party drone, its Dan Albas.
It's been well documented that the Conservative Party did everything in its power to exclude other well qualified candidates by making their path to nomination impossible, leaving Mr. Albas and another hand-picked candidate that had "paid their dues" to "fight it out" for a guaranteed MP position with a gold-plated pension.
Let's be honest here, the CPC could paint a three-legged goat blue and run it in the Okanagan-Coquihalla riding and it would win by a landslide (no disrespect to the other party candidates).
I see this bill, despite its obvious need to pass, as nothing more than the Conservative Party's attempt to give Mr. Albas an iota of credibility.
Second, for anyone who pays attention, Mr. Ron Cannan has been talking about this bill idea since long before Mr. Albas was anointed.
I can see it now... "Hey Ron, we're really gonna need you to hand that bill over to Dan, he's got nothing going over there and it's guaranteed to pass."
Mr. Albas' biggest accomplishment to this point has been erecting a massive billboard of himself when driving into West Kelowna, and to me personally, it still is.
